The stones came in a very nice wooden box with a Buck engraved on the front and a cute metal latch. There are 8 stones in the set and are made of granite, therefore have the look and texture. There is no pretreatment, so you can place them directly into the freezer. Since they are so small we put them in a bowl so they would not get lost in the freezer, guess could have used an old ice cube tray. I left them in for an hour, they seemed cold enough. The first cube I dropped into my glass made such a racket, I thought I might have shattered my glass by dropping the rock into it. It did not shatter, but the remaining stones I tilted the glass and slid them down. It was so nice to enjoy my Cola drink, have it be cold and not to have it watered down. I like that I can put them in a mixed drink and it doesn’t water it down either. Once you are done with them, rinse them off, let them dry and put back in the freezer and you are good to go. Nice to have around at all times. Sometimes, I like ice cubes, like for fresh brewed iced tea, but other times, much prefer these and not have to worry about a watered down drink.
